Rug Rio is certified by Care & Fair, an organization that works to provide workers with good working conditions, education, and fair wages. This also means that we donate money to families in the rug weaving districts. The money goes to the children and enables regular schooling and healthcare.
Considerations & Care Instructions:
- Vacuum the rug regularly without using a brush.
- Professional cleaning only.
- To reduce wear on both the rug and the floor, use a rug underlay.
- Shedding is a normal characteristic of this type of rug and usually diminishes over time, although there are no guarantees that shedding will decrease. Shedding rugs are not a manufacturing defect but a characteristic of this production technique and material. Shedding is completely normal and one of the fibre's properties.
- Rugs with long pile should be regularly brushed to maintain the fibre's appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to ensure even exposure and wear.
- Always remove minor stains immediately. Wet stains should be blotted with dry paper towels. Dry stains should be gently scraped off the fibre's pile, scraping from the edges towards the centre. Then, dampen a clean, colourless cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and mild soap or colourless mild detergent. Lather the solution with lukewarm water before applying. Do not rub the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot up the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for stain treatment at home.
- More stubborn stains should be treated by a professional as soon as possible after the stain occurs, as this increases the chances of cleaning the fibre effectively.
- Always take your rug to a reputable laundry for professional flat washing. Classic Collections rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that will dissipate over time. Ventilating or vacuuming the rug will help the odour disappear more quickly.
Classic Collections products are handmade and therefore completely unique. This means that variations in pattern, colour, and size may occur. These variations create a lively and unique product. Take good care of your new rug, and it will adorn your home for a long time. Each Classic Collection rug creates jobs and contributes to the preservation of old craft traditions.
