Rugs are an important part of the overall Interior design as they tie together the dining group, the sofa group and give the whole room a more considered look. Do you find it difficult to choose the right Rugs for you? Here are some simple tips to make your choice easier.

Where will the Rugs be used?

Living room

When choosing a rug for your sofa group, it should be at least as wide as your Sofa, but we recommend that the rug is wider for a more cosy feel. Place the Rugs a bit under the Sofa to keep it in place but also to create a more cohesive look. Also, if you have Armchairs or Corner sofas, consider choosing a slightly larger rug to frame the whole piece.

Dining area

Something that many people often forget when choosing Rugs for the dining group is that they only think about the dimensions of the Tables and don't count the Chairs. Chairs should therefore be able to be pulled out without the legs falling off the edge of the mat. We therefore recommend that the Rugs should be 50-60cm longer than the Dining tables so that you can place Chairs on the short sides and also use an extension leaf. Choose a Rugs that has the same shape as your Tables.

Bedroom

The function of Rugs in the Bedroom is largely to create a cosy place to put your feet when it's time to get up in the morning. Think about putting the Rugs about 2/3 under the double bed, plus it should surround the bed considerably as it helps to tie the look together. When it comes to a rug under a single bed, it should be at least as wide as the bed and placed about 20 cm in under one long side of the bed.

If you are unsure which size of Rugs is best for you, we recommend going up a size as the most common reason for returns is a rug that is too small.

Different types of Rugs

Here at Sleepo, you'll find a wide range of Rugs with varying characteristics and styles. The type of Rugs you choose depends entirely on location, purpose and personal taste. Do you want a soft rugs? One with shorter pile? Or maybe one that is more durable? Here you can read about our most Popular Rugs and what you can expect when choosing one of them.

Care advice

Here we have collected general care instructions that apply to many of our Rugs.

  • Vacuum the Rugs regularly in the direction of the pile, but only without a brush and on low power. Vacuum both sides.
  • To reduce wear and tear on both rugs and floors, use a rug pad.
  • Avoid dragging furniture back and forth across the Rugs. Use furniture paws/wheel guards under sofa legs and table legs
  • Do not expose the Rugs to direct sunlight.
  • What to do if stains occur depends entirely on the type of Rugs you have. For example, viscose is not resistant to moisture, while wool is a more durable option.
