The Wool Rug Rio Beige is a handwoven wool pile rug. The irregular tactile pattern gives the rug a lovely texture. The rug is flat-woven, with the pattern raised in the pile, softening the impression of the rug and making it comfortable to walk on.
Material: 90% Wool, 10% Cotton (Warp).
Size: As our rugs are handmade, there may be a size variation of +/- 5%.
Thickness: 3cm
Certificate: Care & Fair, REACH
The Rio rug is certified by Care & Fair, an organization that works to provide workers with good working conditions, education, and fair wages. It also means that we donate money to families in the rug weaving districts. The money goes to the children, enabling regular schooling and healthcare.
Considerations & Care Instructions:
- Vacuum the rug regularly without using a brush.
- Professional cleaning only.
- To reduce wear on both the rug and the floor, use a rug underlay.
- Shedding is a normal characteristic of this type of rug and usually diminishes over time, although there are no guarantees that shedding will decrease. Shedding rugs are not a manufacturing defect but a characteristic of this manufacturing technique and material. Shedding is completely normal and a property of the fibre.
- Rugs with long pile should be regularly combed to maintain the fibre's appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to expose it and wear it evenly.
- Always remove minor stains immediately when they occur. Wet stains should be blotted with dry paper towels. Dry stains should be gently scraped from the fibre's edge towards the centre. Then, dampen a clean, colourless cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and mild soap. Foam the product with lukewarm water before applying it. Do not rub the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot up the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for stain treatment at home.
- More stubborn stains should be treated by a professional as soon as possible after the stain occurs, as this increases the chances of cleaning the fibre thoroughly.
- Always take your rug to a reputable laundry for professional flat washing. Classic Collections rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that will dissipate over time. The odour will disappear faster if you air out or vacuum the rug.
Classic Collection products are handmade and therefore completely unique. This means that variations in pattern, colour, and size may occur. These variations create a vibrant and unique product. Take good care of your new rug and it will adorn your home for a long time. Each Classic Collection rug creates jobs and contributes to the preservation of old craft traditions.
