Care Instructions
Vacuum often and thoroughly:
- Vacuum the rug on both sides and the floor underneath regularly. Never use the brush attachment when vacuuming and adjust the suction strength of your vacuum. Avoid vacuuming the rug's edges or fringes as they may get damaged. Rugs with pile should be vacuumed in the direction of the pile.
Rug underlay:
- The rug has an unlined back that may be slippery against the floor. Therefore, we recommend using rug underlay for anti-slip protection and to protect the floor.
Pilling:
- Wool rugs may pill, especially those with pile. This is entirely normal and a characteristic of the fibre. Pilling may be most noticeable when the rug is new. However, there are no guarantees that pilling will decrease over time. Vacuum the rug regularly with a folded brush head to remove excess fibres from production. We also recommend shaking the rug before use to fluff up the pile and remove excess wool.
Rotate the rug:
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to expose it evenly to wear and tear.
Stains:
- Always remove minor stains immediately as they occur. Blot wet stains with dry paper towels.
- Dry stains should be gently scraped from the fibre's tip, scraping from the edges towards the centre. Then, apply lukewarm water on an uncoloured cloth or sponge. Moisten the stain with a damp uncoloured cloth and mild soap or detergent. Foam up the agent with lukewarm water before applying. Do not rub the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for treating stains at home. Tough stains should be treated by a professional, preferably soon after the stain occurs, as it increases the chances of cleaning the fibre thoroughly.
Rug cleaning by a professional:
- Always take your rug to a reputable laundry for professional flat washing. Classic Collection rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
Additional information:
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that will dissipate over time. The odour disappears faster if you air out or vacuum the rug.
Classic Collection products are handmade and therefore entirely unique. This means that variations in pattern, colour, and size may occur. These differences create a lively and unique product. Take good care of your new rug, and it will adorn your home for a long time. Each Classic Collection rug creates jobs and contributes to preserving old craft traditions.
