Care Instructions
Vacuum regularly and thoroughly:
- Vacuum the rug on both sides and the floor underneath regularly. Never use the brush attachment when vacuuming, and adjust the vacuum's suction strength. Avoid vacuuming the rug's edges/bindings or fringes as they may get damaged. Rugs with pile should be vacuumed in the direction of the pile.
Rug underlay:
- The rug has an unlined back that may be slippery on the floor. We recommend using rug underlay for grip and floor protection.
Brushing the shaggy rug:
- Rugs with long pile need regular brushing to maintain the fibre's appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
Pilling:
- Wool rugs may pill, especially those with pile. This is a natural characteristic of the fibre. Pilling may be most noticeable when the rug is new. Regularly vacuum the rug with the brush head retracted to remove excess fibres from production. We also recommend shaking the rug before use to fluff up the pile and remove excess wool.
Rotate the rug:
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to ensure even exposure and wear.
Stains:
- Always attend to minor stains immediately. Blot wet stains with dry paper towels.
- For dry stains, gently scrape from the edges towards the centre. Then, use a damp, colourless cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and mild soap. Foam the solution with lukewarm water before applying. Avoid rubbing the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot the area and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for home stain removal. Tough stains should be treated by a professional promptly after they occur to improve fibre cleanliness.
Rug cleaning by professionals:
- Always take your rug to a reputable laundry service for professional flat washing. Classic Collection rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
Additional information:
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that dissipates over time. Ventilating or vacuuming the rug will help eliminate the odour.
