Pattern Unikko, Design Maija Isola 1964
Marimekko's famous poppy pattern, Unikko, was born in 1964 at a time when the design house's collections mostly consisted of abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting based on this organic theme and designed a whole series of floral patterns. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
