A thick and lovely, handwoven wool runner. A dirt-repellent wool rug that is reversible and therefore suitable as a hallway rug, a kitchen rug, or a cosy bed rug.
The natural fats of the wool make the rug resistant to dirt and stains in an effective way. Any dirt settles on the surface and is best removed by vacuuming or airing.
This rug is certified by Care & Fair, an organization that works to provide workers with good working conditions, proper education, and fair wages. Care Instructions
Vacuum often and thoroughly:
- Vacuum the rug on both sides and the floor underneath regularly. Never use the brush unfolded when vacuuming and adjust the strength of your vacuum cleaner. Never vacuum the edge/selvedge or fringe of the rug as it may get damaged. Rugs with pile should be vacuumed in the direction of the pile.
Rug underlay:
- The rug has an unlined back that may be slippery on the floor. Therefore, we recommend using rug underlay for grip and to protect the floor.
Brush the shaggy rug:
- Rugs with long pile need to be brushed regularly to maintain the fibre's appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
Pilling:
- Wool rugs pill, especially rugs with pile. This is completely normal and a characteristic of the fibre. Pilling may be most intense when the rug is brand new. However, there are no guarantees that pilling will decrease over time. Vacuum the rug regularly with a folded brush head to remove excess fibres from production. We also recommend shaking the rug before use to fluff up the pile and remove excess wool.
Rotate the rug:
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to expose it evenly to wear and tear.
Stains:
- Always remove minor stains immediately when they occur. Wet stains should be blotted with dry household paper.
- Dry stains should be gently scraped off from the fibre's edge, scraping from the edges towards the centre. Then, apply lukewarm water on an uncoloured cloth or sponge. Dampen the stain with a moist uncoloured cloth and mild soap or detergent. Foam up the solution with lukewarm water before applying. Do not rub on the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot up the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Do not use strong chemicals for treating stains at home. Tough stains should be treated by a professional and preferably soon after the stain occurs as it increases the chances of cleaning the fibre.
Rug cleaning by a professional:
- Always take your rug to a reputable laundry for professional flat washing. Classic Collection rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
Other information:
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that will dissipate over time. The odour dissipates faster if you air or vacuum the rug.
