The Birdy Short Wall Lamp from Northern is part of the iconic Birdy series, designed in 1952 in a modernist style by the Norwegian design pioneer Birger Dahl. The series, consisting of wall, table, and floor lamps, was manufactured and sold for many years by the Norwegian electrical company Sønnico in Oslo. In 1954, the table lamp in the series – then designated as "s-30016" – was awarded the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennale, in recognition of its innovative and functional design.
In 2013, Northern relaunched this design classic with careful respect for the original's clean lines and thoughtful functionality. The Birdy Short Wall Lamp is a compact version in the series, adapted for smaller spaces where directed lighting and sleek design are desired. It is particularly well-suited for use by beds, work surfaces, or as discreet ambient lighting.
The lamp has a cable length of 200 cm with a built-in power switch. It uses an E27 socket and is compatible with LED light sources up to 11 W, making the Birdy Short a energy-efficient and sustainable lighting option in modern Nordic interiors.
