Umfors is a floor lamp designed by the designer Malin Lundmark for Globen Lighting. The lamp is a tribute to a village in the Swedish Lapland mountains that is very dear to Malin's heart. A village where the Ume River originates and where the mountains surround the lake Över-Uman. "When I'm there, I become one with nature and time stands still," says Malin.
The lamp is made of a mixture consisting of sandstone and polyresin, giving it a lively character. The round translucent shape symbolises the ice in Umfors, which often becomes 1 metre thick in the winter, and the lower part symbolises the mountains.
The lamp is IP44 classified, which means it can withstand splashes of water and is sealed against larger particles such as sand grains. Therefore, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, providing a nice ambient lighting with its warm light. The lamp comes with a 300 cm long black cable that can withstand -40°C. Colour variations and a lively appearance may occur when the lamp is lit, due to the material containing small grains of sand and the shade varying in thickness - each lamp is simply unique.
