Care instructions for the Stormi rug

Shedding – a natural characteristic of wool

Stormi is made from a blend of wool and bamboo silk. Due to wool’s natural properties, the rug may shed fibres, particularly when new. This is completely normal and often decreases over time. To reduce loose fibres, shake the rug before use.

How to deal with spills and stains

If liquid is spilled on the rug, it is important to act quickly. Use a spoon to gently scoop up the liquid, then absorb any remaining moisture with kitchen paper, a dry cloth or a sponge. Do not rub, as this may damage the fibres. Avoid washing-up liquid and soap, as they remove wool’s natural oils and can make stains more difficult to remove.

Cleaning and vacuuming

To preserve the rug’s appearance and extend its lifespan, vacuum it regularly. Use a brush-free nozzle and vacuum only in the direction of the pile to protect the surface. Remember to vacuum both the top of the rug and the floor underneath it. The underside of the rug should also be vacuumed at least once a year. Avoid robot vacuum cleaners, as they may cause wear along the rug’s edges.

Protect against sun fading

Direct sunlight can cause the rug’s colour to fade over time. To maintain an even appearance and prevent uneven fading, we recommend rotating the rug regularly.

Non-slip protection and rug underlay

Using a rug underlay helps reduce wear and extend the rug’s lifespan. The underlay can be cut to fit the rug’s shape and provides added comfort while protecting the floor.

Professional cleaning

For a thorough clean, professional rug cleaning is recommended. This helps preserve both the material and its structure.

The Stormi rug is designed for indoor spaces with a consistent temperature of around 20–21°C. Under these conditions, the material retains its shape and structure best. In warmer indoor environments, such as temperatures of around 23–24°C, it is worth noting that the material may respond differently depending on the temperature. Maintaining a consistent temperature helps keep the rug looking its best over time.

About shedding: Wool rugs shed fibres, especially those with a pile. This is completely normal and a natural characteristic of wool. Shedding may be most noticeable when the rug is brand new. However, there is no guarantee that shedding will decrease over time. Vacuum the rug regularly with the brush retracted to remove excess fibres left from production. We also recommend shaking the rug before use to remove any excess wool.
