The Rio rug is certified by Care & Fair, an organization that works to provide workers with good working conditions, education, and fair wages. This also means that we donate money to families in the rug weaving districts. The money goes to the children and enables regular schooling and healthcare.
Considerations & Care Instructions:
- Vacuum the rug regularly without using a brush.
- Professional cleaning only.
- To reduce wear on both the rug and the floor, it is recommended to use a rug underlay.
- Shedding is a normal characteristic of this type of rug and usually diminishes over time, although there are no guarantees that shedding will decrease. Shedding rugs are not a manufacturing defect but characteristic of this type of production technique and material. Shedding is entirely normal and a property of the fibre.
- Rugs with long pile should be regularly combed to maintain their appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to ensure even exposure and wear.
- Always remove minor stains immediately when they occur. Wet stains should be blotted with dry paper towels. Dry stains should be gently scraped off the fibre's edge towards the centre. Then, dampen a clean, colourless cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and mild soap. Foam up the solution with lukewarm water before applying it. Do not rub the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot up the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for stain treatment at home.
- More stubborn stains should be treated by a professional as soon as possible after the stain appears, as this increases the chances of cleaning the fibre effectively.
- Always take your rug to a reputable laundry service for professional flat washing. Classic Collection rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that will dissipate over time. Ventilating or vacuuming the rug will help the odour disappear faster.
