Unique material in genuine natural stone
This product is made of natural stone, specifically travertine. The surface is brushed and unlacquered to highlight the stone's natural veining and structure. It provides a lively and rustic expression that enhances the feeling of genuine stone.
Partial filling may occur
During production, the slab may undergo partial filling. This is a common part of processing in the manufacture of travertine products to create a smooth and user-friendly surface.
Grinding for a smooth finish
The stone surface is ground during production to achieve a smooth finish. In this process, occasional grinding marks may appear. These are not defects but a natural result of processing that contributes to the stone's authentic character.
Natural variations make each slab unique
Travertine is a natural material where colour, structure, and veining patterns vary from block to block. This means that each table gets a unique expression. In some areas, you may see intense colour streaks, such as red, which is due to natural occurrences of iron oxide in the stone. Other surfaces may be more homogeneous in their appearance.
Crack-like patterns may appear in the slab, but these are not actual cracks — they are natural veins in the material. They form as the material is layered and compressed over thousands to millions of years, and are part of the stone’s natural structure and unique appearance.
We cannot control where the veining occurs, but to ensure strength and durability, we have reinforced the underside of the slab for added stability.
Characteristic features of natural stone
Two typical characteristics of genuine marble and travertine are:
Calcite: looks like crushed crystals and forms where lime has been deposited from water veins in the stone.
Voids: small natural cavities that occur when the stone is formed, often ranging in size from millimetres to centimetres.
Each table has its own identity
Both larger colour variations and surface variations are part of the stone's character. This makes each table unique, with its own texture and colour play – a part of the charm of natural materials.
