Care Instructions
Vacuum regularly and thoroughly:
- Vacuum the rug on both sides and the floor underneath regularly. Never use the brush attachment when vacuuming and adjust the suction strength of your vacuum cleaner. Avoid vacuuming the edges or fringes of the rug as they may get damaged. For piled rugs, vacuum in the direction of the pile.
Rug underlay:
- The rug has an unlined back that may be slippery on the floor. Therefore, we recommend using rug underlay for anti-slip protection and to protect the floor.
Brush the shaggy rug:
- Rugs with long piles need to be brushed regularly to maintain their appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
Pilling:
- Wool rugs may pill, especially those with a pile. This is a natural characteristic of the fibre. Pilling may be most noticeable when the rug is new. However, there is no guarantee that pilling will decrease over time. Vacuum the rug regularly with a brush attachment to remove excess fibres from production. We also recommend shaking the rug before use to fluff up the pile and remove excess wool.
Rotate the rug:
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to ensure even exposure and wear.
Stains:
- Always remove minor stains immediately when they occur. Blot wet stains with dry paper towels.
- For dry stains, gently scrape off the fibres from the edges towards the centre. Then, dampen a clean cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and mild soap. Foam the solution with lukewarm water before applying it. Do not rub the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot up the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for home stain removal. Tough stains should be treated by professionals, preferably soon after the stain occurs to increase the chances of cleaning the fibre thoroughly.
Professional rug cleaning:
- Always take your rug to a reputable cleaner for professional flat washing. Classic Collection rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
Additional information:
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that will dissipate over time. Ventilating or vacuuming the rug will help the odour disappear.
