Care Instructions
Vacuum often and thoroughly:Â
- Vacuum the rug on both sides and the floor under the rug regularly. Never use the brush extended when vacuuming and adjust the suction strength of your vacuum. Never vacuum the edge/selvedge or fringe of the rug as it may get damaged. Rugs with pile should be vacuumed in the direction of the pile.
Rug underlay:Â
- The rug has an unlined back that may be slippery on the floor. Therefore, we recommend using rug underlay for grip and to protect the floor.
Brush the shaggy rug:Â
- Rugs with long pile need to be brushed regularly to maintain the fibre's appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
Pilling:Â
- Wool rugs pill, especially those with pile. This is normal and a characteristic of the fibre. Pilling may be most intense when the rug is new. However, there are no guarantees that pilling will decrease over time. Vacuum the rug regularly with a beater bar for removing excess fibres from production. We also recommend shaking the rug before use to fluff up the pile and remove excess wool.
Rotate the rug:Â
- Rotate the rug in the room regularly to expose it evenly to wear.
Stains:Â
- Always remove simple stains immediately when they occur. Blot wet stains with dry paper towels.
- Dry stains should be gently scraped off from the edges towards the centre of the stain. Then, apply lukewarm water on an uncoloured cloth or sponge. Dampen the stain with a damp uncoloured cloth and mild soap or detergent. Lather the solution with lukewarm water before applying. Do not rub the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot up the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for stain treatment at home. Tough stains should be treated by a professional as soon as possible after the stain occurs to increase the chances of cleaning the fibre thoroughly.
Rug cleaning by a professional:Â
- Always take your rug to a reputable dry cleaner for professional flat washing. Classic Collection rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
Additional information:Â
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that dissipates over time. Ventilating or vacuuming the rug will help the odour disappear faster.
