Care Instructions
Vacuum frequently and thoroughly:Â
- Vacuum the rug on both sides and the floor underneath regularly. Never use the extended brush when vacuuming and adjust the vacuum's power. Avoid vacuuming the rug's edge/binding or fringe as it may cause damage. Rugs with pile should be vacuumed in the direction of the pile.
Rug underlay:Â
- The rug has an unlined back that may be slippery on the floor. We recommend using rug underlay for grip and floor protection.
Brush the shaggy rug:Â
- Rugs with long pile need to be brushed regularly to maintain the fibre's appearance. Use a wide-toothed comb.
Pilling:Â
- Wool rugs may pill, especially those with pile. This is normal and a natural characteristic of the fibre. Pilling may be more noticeable when the rug is new. However, there is no guarantee that pilling will decrease over time. Vacuum the rug regularly with a flat brush head to remove excess fibres from production. We also recommend shaking the rug before use to fluff up the pile and remove excess wool.
Rotate the rug:Â
- Regularly rotate the rug in the room to expose it evenly to wear.
Stains:Â
- Always remove minor stains promptly. Blot wet stains with dry paper towels.
- For dry stains, gently scrape from the edge towards the centre. Dampen an uncoloured cloth or sponge with lukewarm water and gall soap or mild soap. Foam the solution with lukewarm water before applying. Do not rub the stain as it may make it harder to remove. Blot the liquid and repeat until the stain is gone.
- Avoid using strong chemicals for home stain treatment. Tough stains should be handled by a professional, preferably soon after the stain occurs to improve fibre cleanliness.
Rug cleaning by professionals:Â
- Always take your rug to a reputable laundry for professional flat washing. Classic Collections rugs should not be machine or dry cleaned.
Additional information:Â
- All new rugs have a distinct odour that dissipates over time. Ventilating or vacuuming the rug will help the odour disappear sooner.
